More Than A Mother

The day I found out I was pregnant,

Was a miracle indeed.

It was a dream we had been dreaming

But never could succeed.

I thought, "I'm going to be a mommy",

And my heart was full of smiles!

My pregnancy went well,

They stayed "wombmates" for awhile.

34 weeks 6 days along, 

They decided to make their debut!

Here I had 2 infants in my arms

And had no clue what to do. 

Being a mommy is a blessing,

You learn new things each day,

Especially a mommy of twins

It's double the work..and play! 

But we worked together and did our best,

The babies grew too fast

And each day they learn something new,

Adventures are a blast!

I also learned you're not only a mommy,

You have many more roles to play.

You're busy, busy, busy

And I mean you're busy all day!

You're a Kleenex to wipe their noses.

You're a doctor to nurse them well.

You're a healer to kiss their boo boos,

All the times that they fell.

You're a teacher to teach them right from wrong.

You're a horse for piggy back rides.

You're a support for them to hold onto,

When they start taking their big strides!

You're a chef to make them meals

That they don't always eat,

You're a maid to clean their messes 

And dirty hands and feet!

You're a lover to give snuggles

Because they hit their head. 

You're there to lay them down at night,

And tuck them snug in bed.

Those moments when it's crazy,

All you want to do is hide

But instead you're their chauffeur 

And take them for a ride.

Taking a shower is the most 

successful thing you do

As crazy as that may sound to some,

Sadly it is true!

I may not get to tweeze my brows,

Or even change my clothes.

My toenails need some painting, 

But I love the job I chose!!

I wouldn't trade it for the world,

My babies are my life,

I have the best "job" of all,

Being a mommy and a wife!!

I may not exceed at all these tasks,

I'm just like any other,

But I definitely have learned 

That I am more than just a mother!
