Yeah it's frustrating and I have to let my emotions out frequently by shedding a few tears, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Paxtin and Channing coming into our lives has been the greatest blessings. Even though those late nights, or should I say early mornings, are exhausting. I love being a mother.
I have learned quite a few things about twins so far, and I learn more everyday. First of all, you can guarantee if one baby gets something, the other one will get it. For example: Paxtin had a blocked tear duct, and once it cleared up, Channing got a blocked tear duct. Paxtin got congested then 2 days later Channing got congested. They also get jealous of each other. In the NICU both babies got off oxygen. Because of a feeding tube problem Paxtin was put back on oxygen. And it didn't take long for Channing to decide that he wanted it too. He was put back on oxygen due to his "car seat test" and he ended up needing it more than Paxtin. Then both babies came home on oxygen. It's ALWAYS like this. They take turns! I'll pick one up when he's crying, and the other gets jealous and will start to cry! They keep us on our toes!
Second: I have learned a lot of techniques for caring for twins. I can hold them both, burp them both, walk around with them both at the same time. Dusty will see me doing something and ask, "how do you do that?" And I say, "I'm a mother to twins, you just learn!" I'm home with them all day and you figure out how to care for them both at the same time. Especially when they both want to be held at the same time, sometimes I wish I had 4 arms, as I'm sure most mothers do.
We are learning and figuring out the different needs for each baby like what each one likes and dislikes. Paxtin loves a binkie and Channing does not! Channing loves to sleep in his own bed, and Paxtin does not. I always know who's crying by the sound of their cry. Paxtin will cry, then scream, then squaul, then stop for a while. Channing will cry, then scream, then scream louder, and louder, and will cry some more. He will tighten and shake his fists and stiffen his legs straight. It's funny how they are so different but also very similar!
I'm learning that you're lucky to get a couple loads of laundry done in a week, and that it's ok for your house to be messy with baby blankets, spit up rags, wipes, diapers, bottles, and whatever else a baby needs. And it's double everything. We have no living room space due to the fact that we have to have 2 of everything! From bouncy seats to swings, and so on! I love learning each day more about being a mother and caring for these two precious miracles who chose me to be their mother.
And the best thing about it all is..they're both "Momma's Boys"!!
