We started their day by going to our clubhouse and decorating. Correction...Mom and dad decorated, they ran around in the empty room loving having the space to run freely. We filled the room with Bubble Guppies decorations and got everything all set for the party.
We did have a scare of having NO CAKE!! I called 3 weeks before their party to order their cake and check it off my "to-do list". When Dusty went that afternoon to pick it up, there was NO CAKE for us! The cake decorator called in sick, and so they just didn't worry about doing our cake order. The party was 4 hours away, and the sweet lady in the bakery told us to come back in 30 minutes and she would get our cake done. Fortunately it was an easy picture cake and nothing too fancy, but I had specifically ordered certain colors on their cake and when I went to pick it up they had the colors all wrong. I asked the lady about it and she was so apologetic, and I asked her if she could just add a few colored sprinkles to spice it up a bit, and she did. Then she said, you can just have the cake no charge. She said where they had messed up so much on our order not to worry about paying for it. That was a relief where first, we almost didn't have a cake, and second they didn't look at my order form and do the colors I asked. I was very thankful for her and for at least getting us a cake to have for their party!
The party started at 4:00, we had the A/C on all day and the room had been nice and cool. Well when the sun hit to come through the windows, and people opening the door in the St. George summer, and then all the body heat, it got hot awfully fast. I felt so bad for the boys guests who showed up, but the kids didn't care and we went about building oceans, playing "fishketball", and playing in the bubbles. The boys got so spoiled with so many gifts. After presents we had cake and ice cream, then all their little friends went home. It was a great party! (Thank you all who came! We loved having you there.)
After their party, Dusty and his parents and my parents and myself all took the boys to dinner at Paula's. We had a great little family dinner and they brought the boys MORE ice cream and sang to them and they thought it was great and they loved the candle on top!
All in all it was an exhausting day, but totally worth it once we got settled down and the boys got to play and open all of their toys. There was so many they couldn't decide and went from one to the other faster than I could open them!
I'm so proud of my boys and for the little men they are becoming! They are always full of so much energy and they absolutely LOVE having each other to play with. I will leave this blog to their party details and do an update on them in another post, and it will be one you don't want to miss.
Until then..... <3
