The Saga: My Health

Now as I left off...Christmas 2010 was when our lives changed. I woke up feeling like I had to stomach flu on Christmas Day. I tried to be cheery anyway as we sat with Dusty's family opening presents. I went to go to the bathroom feeling like I was going to be sick, when I yelled to Dusty that I was fainting, and next thing I know I woke up in the hallway on the floor. That day was kind of a drag for me. I felt tired and sick all day, but we still were able to visit with family, trying to enjoy the holiday. The next day was church. We went to church, and afterwards, Dusty and I were visiting with some friends in the foyer, when I started to feel very light-headed and dizzy. What do you know, I fainted again. Fortunately, both times I fainted my amazing husband was there to catch me. After the 2nd episode of fainting, Dusty rushed me to the ER, where I fainted 2 more times. They ran some blood work, and come to find....nothing was wrong. So, that's when we ended our Christmas weekend in Fredonia.

I spent most of the following week in bed with the walls spinning, and feeling so dizzy I couldn't walk. We also got a call that week that Dusty's grandpa Mackelprang had passed away. So we headed to Fredonia that weekend (New Year's Weekend). As we are sitting at the church mourning with our family, my body decided to faint again. Dusty took me to my parents so he could go back to his grandpa's funeral. Well the fainting didn't stop there, next thing I know my mom had called 911 and the EMT's, cops, ambulance, and my family are around me trying to get oxygen on me. I go to the hospital where they give me an IV and I started to fill better getting fluids back in my body. Then they decided to refer me to a Neurologists thinking the fainting spills may be micro-seizures, and they also referred me to an Audiologist to check for an inner ear infection. That is also where they told me I had a UTI and put me on antiobiotics.
I could tell you about all my doctor visits but I'll give you the abridged version. I went to an Audiologist, Cardiologist, Neurologist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, several Gynecologists, etc. And all the was found was an inner ear infection in my left ear, which was causing my dizziness (and ended up lasting about six months), and a sinus infection. Then January 10, 2011 came, and at 2 AM we were back in the ER. After blood work and a CT Scan, I was told I had appendicitis and needed emergency surgery. That's where I spent the next couple days, in the Dixie Regional Medical Center.

My doctor told me that due to stress, my immune system took a dive and that is why I picked up all the infections (UTI, inner ear, sinus, appendicitis). I could go on and on about the doctors I continued to see throughout the year of 2011, but the polls are in and the results are the same...I've lived with chronic nausea every day of my life since that dreadful Christmas morning in 2010. But that is not why we are writing this story. That reason will come later as we continue to tell you A Mackelprang Story......
